The Penn State Alumni Association Southern New Jersey Chapter
SCHOLARSHIP SUMMARY
The Penn State Alumni Association Southern New Jersey Chapter is offering five scholarships to students who have been accepted and will enroll at any of the campuses of the Pennsylvania State University for the fall semester of this year. NCAA Athletic Scholarship winners and children of the members of the Board of Directors of the Penn State Alumni Association Southern New Jersey Chapter are ineligible for these scholarships.

Two scholarships are awarded from the Parent/Gajecki Scholarship Fund. This fund honors Al Parent and Leon Gakecki. Al Parent played a major role in establishing this fund. Leon Gajecki was a football All-American at Penn State in 1940. The fund memorializes Al Parent and Leon Gajecki for their efforts on behalf of outstanding young men and women attending Penn State. These scholarships are available to students who reside in Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester or Salem counties. The primary award is for approximately $2,800 and the second award is for $2,000. Current high school and Penn State students with superior academics, varsity athletics, school activities and community involvement will be considered. Financial need is also considered.

The Michael Delo Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Michael Delo, a Penn State student who died of cancer. Michael was an outstanding student who cared greatly for the well-being of others and had a deep conviction for the importance of helping others. Students who reside in Burlington, Camden or Gloucester counties are eligible to apply for this approximately $3,500 scholarship.

The Richard A. Brownmiller Scholarship Fund honors Richard Brownmiller, an active board member of our Chapter who contributed significantly to the Chapter’s development until his untimely death due to cancer.  A graduate of the Smeal College of Business, Richard had a successful 33 year career at CIGNA and loved his alma mater.  Students who reside in Burlington, Camden or Gloucester counties are eligible to apply for this approximately $2,400 scholarship.  Preference is given to students pursuing a business degree.

The Fellner/ Ungvarsky Scholarship Fund is named to honor Robert Fellner and John Ungvarsky. They are long-time members of the board and have served as officers of the Penn State Alumni Association Southern New Jersey Chapter. They have both generously given their time and energy to develop our Alumni Chapter into one of the most distinguished chapters in the Penn State Alumni Association.  Students who reside in Burlington, Camden or Gloucester counties are eligible to apply for this $1,000 scholarship.
