 BOARD MINUTES

 

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. at the Cherry Hill Public Library.

 

Review of Minutes

October minutes were reviewed and approved as written.

 

Treasurer’s Report

Report was reviewed and approved.

 

Committee Reports

 

Membership – Paid members to date is 140.

 

License Plates – Nothing new to report at this time.

 

Discount Program –   Received an email for a 15% discount on rental rates.  For more information and contact Matt Kirk.

 

Social Events/Fundraising

 

Chapter Social – The Spring Brunch is scheduled for Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Pennsauken Country Club.  The speaker will be John Colaneri from America’s Most Desperate Kitchens (HGTV Network).  Cost $35 per adult and $15 per child.

 

Lapel Pins – Awaiting the arrival of the 100 lapel pins. There was an issue with the logo copyright but it was resolved and we can use the lion’s paw since it is not a sport’s symbol.

 

THON Event – The event is scheduled for Wednesday, February 15, 2017 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (snow date February 22, 2017) at PJ Whelihan’s in Cherry Hill.  The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for kids under the age of 12.

 

Freshman Send-Off – Nothing to report at this time.

 

Christmas Party – The event date is Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 12:00 noon.   Set-up time is 10:30 a.m. We need coolers. We are expecting 54 children. Each child will receive 1 to 2 toys, gloves, a PSU blanket and books. The wrap night is Wednesday, December 7, 2016.  The DJ and Phillies Phanatic are scheduled and Dave Hulbert will look into getting the Photo Booth. The bus fee is $378 to transport the children. We have received donations from ShopRite, and Wegmans. Committee members will reach out to Trader Joe’s, The Pretzel Factory, Sal’s Pizza, Cosco and other businesses for donations.

 

Newsletter/Webpage/Social Media – Continue to be updated.

 

Community – The Christmas party donation letter will be distributed after Thanksgiving.

 

Marketing/Publicity/Advertising – Need to post events in free newspapers.

 

Scholarships – An email will be sent in January to the committee members to see if they are still interested in serving on the committee.

 

Old Business

 

Student Bus Trip – The bus trip was canceled due to lack of interest. Those who paid in advance will receive a PSU flash drive, information on the Mega Bus along with their reimbursement. Discussed trying this event again next year.

 

Fund Drive for Scholarships – Dave Hulbert continues to look into this endeavor.

Discussed putting the JoePa prints on E-Bay for $25.00 including shipping fee to help raise money. Will advertise in the Newsletter.

 

Game Watching Parties  – There were 25 people at the first party at PJ Whelihan’s, there were 8 people for second party and 2 for the third party at Chili’s. Discussed poor attendance. Discussed possibly having future game watching parties at Chickie and Pete’s when they open. Dave Hulbert will look into Ramblewood Country Club bar for a bowl game; there is no room fee.

 

Hockey Game – The event is on January 28, 2016, when purchasing tickets use the drop down box and check off our alumni association and we will receive $5 per ticket sold.  Information is on Facebook.

 

Men’s Basketball Game – The January 7, 2017 game at Palestra in Pennsylvania is sold out.

 

Election of Board Members – Nominations for 2017-2018 board positions has been tabled until January’s meeting.
