Once again the Southern New Jersey Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association hosted their annual Christmas party for children from Camden, New Jersey on Saturday, December 8, 2012 from noon to 4 p.m. The children arrived at St. Joan of Arc Church in Marlton, NJ, where the party has been held for the past 10 years. It has been celebrated for over 20 years in conjunction with the Salvation Army in Camden, New Jersey. Sixty-three children attended the party.
They were provided with a warm meal donated by local businesses, such as Murphy’s Mart and Campbell’s Soup. Local Penn State Alumni also provided food and gifts that were purchased by generous donations from local Alumni Association members. Through an extraordinarily generous giving campaign, run by Donna McMann and her family, Lockheed Martin once again provided extra special gifts for the children. Gifts were also donated by the WINGS, the St. Joan of Arc youth group, and even the Phillies. The Philly Phanatic even made an appearance!
The WINGS helped wrap the gifts, decorated the cafeteria, and entertained the children. Alumni Association volunteers prepared and served the food. Entertainment, which has been provided for the past 10 years by Betsy Fischer’s Groove Lounge of Voorhees, NJ, was generously donated this year. Santa, who arrived courtesy of Marlton Fire Department, greeted the children and posed for pictures. We would like to thank all of the volunteers who donated their time and energy to make for another very successful Christmas party. We would also like to thank our generous Penn State alumni and Lockheed Martin donors and all of our other donors who contributed this year.
